Notes: The rugby club is a short walk away from the town. Cirencester was the second largest city in Britain during Roman times and contains many historic buildings spanning several centuries. The market square is dominated by the parish church of St John the Baptist which is one of the largest in the country. Cirencester’s market was mentioned in the Doomsday book and is held on every Monday and Friday.
Directions: On A417 to Cirencester take the 1st exit into town, go through Stratton, turn left at traffic lights, SP Chedworth. Site on R behind club house.
Site Report: Arrived to find a height barrier had been erected across entrance road to site due to travellers having caused £12,000 of damage to the club's pitches. it was therefore necessary to open and close the barrier for every entry and exit of the site by us (stewards) as were the ony ones to know the padlock combination. Unfortunately we could not camp on all of the site as the club wanted to undertake repairs to a large area of grass, which due to the number of units booked, 25, meant we had to mark out pitches. However, all enjoyed the visit, most visited the town centre with it's shops, classic car show and county show taking place in the park, Saturday and Sunday, whilst others toured the are on foot or by public transport. The club was hospitable to those that used it. The weather was not so, for periods. Units from 15 different areas camped with us. Laurie & Rita
